Hot and spicy! We carry a little bit of every place that we have been to, people we have met and especially people who have been kind enough to cook for us. . So, it’s not surprising that the food I cook is influenced much more by the people I have met than the recipe books I have been hoarding over the years🙈 . Like this meal I cooked last night. ❄️ Atlantic Wild Caught Salmon getting a Bihari makeover. In a garlic, mustard, tomato curry with coriander leaves (cilantro) as an important ingredient. ❄️ Posto Bora or Spicy fritters made with Poppy seeds. This obviously is the Bengali influence in my life ❄️ A simple potato fry with paanch phoran, curry leaves and lots of ground anardana (ground, dried pomegranate seeds)! This happened thanks to my dear cousin @maiths09 who reminded me yesterday how paanch phoran is such a star ingredient! ❄️ Beans and shredded shredded carrot bits stir fried in ghee and shallots with lots of ground black pepper to spice it up. This one is influenced part from all my friends with whom I have discussed “thoran” and part from my Mom. ❄️ Basmati rice ❄️ Royce Chocolates for dessert, which I didn’t make ;-)Happiness starts with being GRATEFUL for what you have. That one simple word just changes the narrative of your life. . There is always something to be grateful for. And just like that, there is always something to complain about. But when we choose to be grateful, and do it every day, it becomes a habit. A precious lesson that I have learnt over the past year. . Grateful for the loves in my life - my family and closest friends, the shelter I have in the freezing cold temperatures and the food I have on my table. . Happy ❤️ Day! . This was on our dinner table last night ❤️ - a warm bowl of garam masala spiced quinoa from @traderjoes . - Thai style spicy stir fry of mixed vegetables with asparagus and celery stealing the show . - sunny side up with lots of fresh ground black pepper . I’ll post the recipes on the blog shortly.
